My Hitachi Laptop Hard Drive Failed

These Hitachi Travelstar Laptop hard drives have always been quite reliable in the past. The only time one broke on me was when I got up from my seat in a hurry for some reason, can’t remember why now, and knocked my laptop. The laptop fell off the table resulting in a failed hard drive. Totally my own fault. But this time my hard drive has totally and randomly just FAILED!

It started making some strange noises, which I translated to, “I’m in deep trouble mate”, “It was nice knowing you.” Now it won’t respond at all. I have tried using the Windows XP disc to try and repair the hard drive either by running chkdsk /F, chkdsk /P, fixboot, or the recovery console, but it just goes all blue screened on me once all the files have loaded. I even tried the old wives tale " Put it in the freezer trick". Still no good.

I have even tried connecting my USB to IDE connection lead to the hard drive and plugging it up to my Desktop computer but it doesn’t register..It’s well and truly dead and it’s took all my files to the grave with it..I bought it off eBay a few months ago, no wonder they accepted my low "best offer" price.

Karrimor Mountain Emergency Whistle

A mountain whistle can be used in many situations. It’s not just bought and used by people going mountain climbing, but by anyone who needs to alert people while in an emergency situation. This could be anything from an accident out in remote area, getting lost while out hiking, or even used in other, more populated areas to raise the alarm. The rounding up of people in a group, such as children is also a popular use for this whistle. The Karrimor mountain whistle also works great as a personal alarm if you are out late at night and fear for your safety. This whistle is very LOUD so makes a great alarm for helping you be found or for getting people to look your way. Karrimor should have called it the Karrimor Attention Seeker.

This Karrimor keyring whistle is very small and fits onto your key chain easily. It’s also very cheap to buy and makes a great addition to your safety equipment, and could actually save your life. Technology is great but it’s not always reliable. Not only is technology potentially unreliable in remote areas, but also in times of emergency where a quick, hands on solution is needed. Example: How long does it take to phone someone on a mobile phone if you are being attacked. Then how long does it take for someone to actually get to you. In the heat of the moment, when it’s as real as it gets a back up is a smart idea. Hope that doesn’t scare you too much but I like to keep it real. Not saying that this whistle is the answer to all your rescue needs but it definitely works as a good deterrent as well as an excellent rescue aid. Well worth the very cheap price tag.
