Nikon CoolPix P1000 Video Zoom Test

Nikon CoolPix P1000 Video Zoom Test. While the previous model wasn't perfect in every department, it does possess one of the most amazing zoom lenses ever put into a Bridge camera. But with the release date of its big brother coming up, the Nikon Coolpix P1000 (Pictured), it has been surpassed by none other than one of its own. The P900 (older model) has an 83x optical zoom.

The new P1000 has an almost laughable range of 125x zoom! Just take a look at some of the test videos out there and I'm sure you'll be just as blown away as I was.

Nikon P1000 Release Date and Purchase Considerations

The official release date for the P1000 is the 16th September 2018, so there's a lot of time left to have a good think about whether to purchase or not. One thing worth considering though, is that now, with a new model coming out very soon, the older but still amazing P900 will inevitably be lowered in price. So while everyone is clambering to buy the latest model, for those who never owned the earlier P900, this could be the perfect time to purchase one. At a discount price.

Checkout the test video below that shows a man rock climbing on a mountain side. At the start when the camera is focused in close you don't really comprehend how far away the person filming the footage is. But when he zooms out, his is so far away that the man on the mountain becomes a little dot. And then can't be seen at all. Truly amazing.

Nikon Coolpix Model Differences

The new model is larger than the older model. We're talking the super heavyweight division. It also has a shorter battery life and weighs more. Mostly, all of this is to compensate for the enormous lens. And these things are compromises you will have to make with the Nikon P1000 Camera. In return you get a seriously incredible Bridge camera that has one of the best zooming profiles ever seen. It can film subjects from so far away that they are totally unaware.

Quick Specification

The new Nikon P1000 has WiFi, Bluetooth, 16 megapixel sensor (same as P900), hot-shoe function, increased flash distance, 4K video, RAW support, easier zoom out functions, improved stabilisation, HDMI option, USB 2, manual focus ring, and an optional external microphone port and much much more. All in all, this is a fantastic Bridge camera, and there are many people eagerly anticipating it's official release. Shame its so expensive. But I can see why it costs what it does.

Feel so annoyed right now. Was waiting for the right moment to buy the P1000 from Amazon UK, been busy with different things, and all of sudden I go to buy, and its sold out! Checked eBay UK, none for sale on there. Does anyone know where I can buy the P1000 from other than have to get one shipped over from the US. Thanks.

Hey there. Yes, it is most probably due to designated pre order quantities reaching their maximum (selling out). However, there are other places you can purchase the P1000 from today. Try Jessops. Someone on my website commented that they were ordering theirs through Jessops, and after looking at their site I can confirm, the Nikon P1000 is available to pre-order. Good luck.

The Canon PowerShot SX70 HS also has an impressive zoom range but doesn't rate as well with consumers as the P900 or P1000.
